Reflection 1: Setting Goals for Growth
Reflect on the topics discussed in class and write a paragraph using the guiding questions below. The reflection should be at least 150-250 words.
What is one area that you feel you would like to improve/develop? It can be anything: learning how to knit, reading more, doing yoga, joining/starting a club, etc. Explore how you can achieve these goals.
I would like to exercise and learn more this year. Before the start of class, I heard people say healthcare programs are difficult. Therefore, I take the success in my classes as my priority. What I really want to do is to successfully complete the program and have a good start to career. To achieve this goal, good reading strategies and maintaining high energy levels are very important. However, I am not a fun of reading in the past. I get tired easily like a small-capacity battery, and exercise is a good way for me to be energetic. Besides, physical activity makes the body healthier and more fit.
As for the effective and consistent reading, I plan to make a simple schedule to force myself to read the course materials, especially for textbooks. I will follow my schedule to read books and slides every day and make sure I read them more than once. Gradually, the content will become more familiar and easier for me. Besides, reading is not just glancing over sentences. Remembering and understanding the content is more crucial, so the first thing I need to do is having a rough understanding of my task, which will build a well-organized structure for the following reading.
In terms of exercise, I will follow an every-two-days routine to do aerobic and anaerobic exercises for half an hour on the top floor of my apartment building. From my experience, I would rather to do the physical activity before sleep because I would become exhausted afterward and fall asleep more easily. Since I have already been exercising little by little, I think this is relatively easy to implement.
